About the class
Unleash your child's creativity and learn from a working potter, with my personalised Kids After School Pottery Club!
Designed for ages 8 and up, this immersive class combines the best of hand building using a range of different clay types, surface decoration techniques, understand the various stages of the process and more.
We will build on our knowledge as the term progresses and focus mostly on creating functional forms. Each week we will begin a new piece with step-by-step guidance however children are also welcome to modify and adapt their pieces to however they would like; think mugs, breakfast bowls, sandwich plates, vases, wall art, planters and more.
My aim is for children to walk away with some having fun as well as a basic knowledge of pottery terms and experiencing the transformative nature and satisfaction of working with a lump of clay to a finished fired piece.
All work will be kiln fired on site by Melanie and glazed accordingly to ensure the children’s work is both durable and fit for purpose. The studio kiln is located in a separate building that is not accessible to the children. When the kiln is not running, we will take a visit to see where our pieces are fired.
All materials used are safe and approved as non-toxic.
Each session lasts 90 mins providing ample time for your little artists to explore and create.
All classes in this course will be taught by myself (with 30 years pottery experience) and my assistant.
All work is kiln fired so it is functional and durable for its purpose.
